My-7-year old daughter knows that I am called “Sir” in my office. I have a team whom I instruct & guide that report to me. She is aware of this fact & fascinated as well. She’s proud of her Dad being called ‘Sir’. Yesterday out of curiosity, she asked me, Dad do you have a boss? I replied since I’m an Entrepreneur I am the boss. To which she quickly remarked ‘How do you manage to learn, then?’
I was awestruck by this amazing question put forward by her. If you don’t ask, consult or take advice from someone who is a Mentor or Coach how would you learn? Interesting to see, today many people in their personal & professional lives commit so many mistakes, fail in so many aspects but they don’t want to ask or take help from a professional. Especially Entrepreneurs, they want to give it a try, experiment and sometimes even want to reinvent the wheel. They want to learn from mistakes (the learning’s which are already available through other’s mistakes) they are referred to as the “Wannabe’s”.
This is what I had to say to my daughter, “Although I am an Entrepreneur who delivers talks, guides many and a mentor to others and even though I am called ‘Sir’, I too still have a Mentor, a Coach & an Advisor. There are many crucial decisions in life where I still ask my Dad, who is my first Mentor. Then, of course, being an Entrepreneur, I learn from my experiments. That’s the only way, it really happens. We learn from others as well as from your own experiences throughout our journey!” – Vikrant Bhujbalrao
